NESREA salary structure updates in 2022, and this article will provide you with the required information you need to understand how many entry-level employees/staff members and other employees at the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), receive each month.
About NESREA
Nigeria was poorly equipped to maneuver significant environmental issues before the blow-off of harmful trash in Koko village, Delta State, in the year 1987.
And, this was owing to the lack of organizational processes for environmental basic protection, making it difficult to execute environmental laws and regulations in Nigeria.
With this effect, the Federal Government of Nigeria put in force the Harmful Waste Decree 42 of 1988, in other words, which led to the establishment of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA) generally, through:
- Decrees 58 of 1988
- And 59 (as amended) of 1992
And, as the country contends with the aftermath of dumping the toxic waste after the occurrence at Koko village in Delta State.
FEPA was given the mandates on issues with regard to environmental management and protection, by generally ensuring that Nigeria as a nation became the first African country to establish a National Institutional Structure for Environmental Protection at the moment it was established.
Then, in the year 1999, the Federal Government amalgamated FEPA with other essential Departments in other Ministries to become the Federal Ministry of Environment, but without an enabling law to address enforcement challenges. And this caused a void in the:
- Country’s efficacious implementation of environmental laws
- Standards
- And regulations.
Among other things, the Federal Government initiated the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Environment, commensurate with Section 20 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In addition, the Federal Environmental Protection Agency Act Cap F 10 LFN 2004 was reversed by the NESREA formation Act 2007, which the National Assembly passed a bill inaugurating NESREA, and was signed into law and issued in the Federal Republic of Nigeria Official:
- Gazette No. 92
- Vol. 94, on July 31, 2007
